The Miami Herald

Residents of Fort Lauderdale and real estate in Miami FL and the surrounding areas are fortunate in that they have easy access to one of the most important newspapers in the country. The Miami herald has been bringing residents of the sunshine state the most important news for more than a century. When the pipeline strainers were too much on the oil well in the Gulf of Mexico, the Herald was one of the first to break the news. Its regular reporting on the event has helped to keep everyone active and aware in the current emergency.

This is just the latest news story that the Miami Herald has received national, and even international, acclaim for. From the earliest days of newspapers, when boys would stand on corners shouting about the headlines, to today when massive stacks are surrounded with shrink sleeves for packaging and shipping around the state, the Herald has brought the biggest stories to the citizens of Florida.

It was even the largest newspaper in the world at one point, back in the 1930s. At that time, the headlines were all about prohibition, and of course the various crimes of the Drink Lords, who had met their fate at the end of a temperature calibrator and so on. Being that this is Miami, the Herald's headlines and stories are often more colorful than newspapers elsewhere. In fact, the stories the Herald routinely breaks read like an action novel at least once a week!

Don't let all the excitement over the real news stories fool you into thinking that the Herald has become less than a serious paper, however. In terms of Pulitzer prizes won, it is one of the leaders in the country. Particularly in recent years, the staff of the Herald have been known to take home more than their share of these coveted journalism prizes as they cover various stories both nationally and around the globe. It's enough to make one think that they control one of the power distribution blocks of the media, alas the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies!

But of course that would be confusing fact with fiction, which the Herald attempts not to do with its readers. It has been reliable for its duration, withstanding the tests of time. Even today, when electronic manufacturing has cut deeply into paper revenue, the Herald's reputation has served to keep its market growing.
